HEB Demo Check-Lists
Pre-Event Check-List
Have Product Chilled and Ready. Bring in a 4 bottles chilled in a cooler ready to sample for each SKU authorized at the store you are doing the demo. Ensure you Sharpie through the barcode so it will not scan and write above the barcode "For DEMO Use Only"
Ensure there is enough product the day before, or confirm with Purpose Tea that a Jack Hilliard Delivery is being made the morning of prior to the demo.
Make sure you have your kit and needed supplies (small demo table, tablecloth, tray, sampling cups, pen, printed page for demo sales and sampling tracking, purple apron, hairnet, gloves, small trash can, BOGO coupons, ice bucket, acrylic sign with printed information sheet, napkins and hand sanitizer.
Arrival Check-List
Load kit in grocery cart and take into the store ahead of the demo time. The time of the demo is the start time, not arriving at the store time.
Check-in with the connections manager. This station is near the front of the store near deli where they sample warm food items. They will have a sheet to write down your name and time of arrival. Ask them where they would like to be conducting the demo, most the time it is near the product isle but try to ensure you are in a heavy foot traffic part of the store.
Get ice for the bucket from the fish department. They may have you fill the bucket yourself or fill it for you. If you fill it yourself, ensure you are wearing gloves in the department.
Ensure pricing is correct and what the price scans with the current deal offering and with the BOGO deal attached to the sale.
Check beginning inventory and if there is additional product in the back that may have not been put out or in top stock above the shelves.
Take a picture of your station at start of demo.
Conducting the Demo and Tips for Sales
Do not say "Do you want to try a sample?" Lead with, "Have you tried Purple Tea before? It's Texas local!" Draw curiotisty or read what people are wearing to change the narrative.
Reinforce why we are on sale. "Today we are on sale because HEB supports women's history month by focusing on Texan women owned brands."
Add value. "On top of this monthly promotion, because we are running a sampling today, we are offering a buy one, get one free promotion". If they purchase, give them an extra coupon to take with them for next visit.
Help people around. If an elderly person is trying to reach for something on the top shelf near you, offer to help. Management may or may not see you, but if they do this is recognized and they will support more demos from Purpose Tea because you are a part of the HEB culture. Also, just be a good human OK? :)
Close of Demo Check-List
Put everything back into a cart to take out of the store including the ice and unused product or partially used product.
Ensure the shelves are stocked if they can be and merchandised with labels facing forward, BOGO tags placed, and shelf-wobbler placed.
Check out with the connections manager and sign the sheet for check-out time.
Pour ice down storm drains or away from walking paths in the grass. Take partially used product home to pour out at home due to the sugars attracting ants or creating stickiness.
Fill out online recap form in your car transferring your notes from the day and send photos to where directed on the form.
